Along the stretch of shoreline between Scituate, MA and Plymouth, MA there are many tidal rivers and streams. The many inlets created by this natural topography provide safe places to tie up and launch boats. The bordering salt marshes are a natural buffer between the water and the uplands. This little cove in Duxbury was as picturesque as can be on this warm, summer morning.
I framed my scene so that the beached boats dotted the inlet side and the old house on stilts sat on the wooded side. In the foreground, the (very common) greenhead fly box sat amid the bright green seagrasses. These boxes really do work by reducing the numbers of aggressive, biting "greenies". I can attest to the fact that I only saw one!
